ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The game is a beginning. Leadership is the goal.

The Native American Athletic Foundation exists to help Native young people grow into leaders of character. Athletics creates the opportunity to bring them together. Mentorship, education, cultural connection, and shared responsibility give that opportunity a larger purpose.

Our Mission

The mission of the Native American Athletic Foundation is to empower young Natives to achieve new levels of success through sports, mentorship, and leadership to become leaders of character in their tribal communities.

Our Vision

A future where every Native American young person has the opportunity, confidence, and support to reach their full potential and become a leader who strengthens their family, community, and tribal nation.

How We Got Here

NAAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit developed after two pilot programs demonstrated the potential of bringing Native youth together through athletics. The foundation was created to expand that opportunity and invest in the next seven generations. Our focus is not limited to what athletes accomplish on a field, but extends to the people they become and the communities they will serve.

What Happens When an Athlete Joins Us

They are challenged. Coaching, practice, and competition create real opportunities to build discipline, preparation, teamwork, and resilience.

They are prepared. College readiness, scholarship information, and recruiting guidance help athletes understand the choices available after high school.

They are mentored. Coaches and speakers emphasize character, accountability, leadership, and service beyond athletic achievement.

They connect. Meeting other Native athletes and mentors creates space to celebrate identity, learn from other tribal communities, and form lasting relationships.

Native American Baseball Showcase

Native American Baseball Showcase

NAAF’s work extends beyond football. The Native American Baseball Showcase creates opportunities for Native baseball players to demonstrate their abilities, learn through competition, and connect with other Native athletes. Like our football programming, the showcase reflects our belief that sports can open doors to education, mentorship, confidence, and leadership. The foundation’s purpose is not tied to a single sport; it is to support the young people who participate.

Our Signature Experience

The Native All-American Game brings selected Native high-school football players together for a multi-day development camp and exhibition game. Athletes work with coaches and participate in sessions addressing college preparation, scholarship applications, leadership, culture, and community involvement. The 2027 game is scheduled for January 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, with camp beginning December 29, 2026.

68 athletes. 48 tribal communities.

The 2025 event brought together 68 athletes from 48 tribal communities across 21 states and Canada. These are measures of participation and reach; we will distinguish them from longer-term outcomes as we document athlete progress.
